National Simplicity Day

A replica of Thoreau's cabin near Walden Pond

July 12, 1817 was the birthdate of Henry David Thoreau, an American philosopher and author best known for his book Walden. I can’t imagine what Thoreau might have made of today’s technology or harried lifestyles. But he clearly felt that his life would benefit from simplification—and I think that’s true for nearly everyone. So today, to honor that impulse, don’t overthink it; just do less. You can thank me later. (For practical tips, you might check out Simplify Magazine, which I’ve been enjoying recently.)
